Essential Metabolic Micronutrients



Vitamins are essential to human life. But for a a few exceptions, they cannot be synthesized by the body and must be obtained from our diet or supplementation. There are aproximately twenty known vitamin substances and they can be divided into two categories; 'fat soluble vitamins', and 'water soluble vitamins'.

The fat soluble vitamins are A,D, E, F & K. The water soluble vitamins are Vitamin C, bioflavanoids and the B complex vitamins.

NOTE:

Vitamins are not building blocks of the body, They have no caloric content but rather they are essential helpers in many functions of metabolism.


Since vitamins can be obtained from our foods, why do we need to supplement them? Why would we need more vitamins than we get from our food?

Consider the following points.

Does your diet include foods that are rich in the vitamins that you need?

Do we know what nutrients we are getting in our diet? Many processed foods lack natural vitamins. Cooked foods can loose much of their vitamin content.

Do the fresh foods you eat contain the nutrients you need?

Due to many of the modern day farming techniques and crop rotation practices the soils in which our vegetables are grown may be depleted in nutrient content.

Are you under certain stresses in which your body needs more than the average amount of vitamins found in your normal diet?

These stresses can be such things as work related stress, emotional stress relationship difficulties, and toxic stress from (poor quality enviroment), (poor quality air, water, & food), or (toxic chemcial exposure)

During illness or disease your body needs more nutrients than under normal conditions.

Our bodies need more of the essential vitamins when we are ill or depleted in energy.

Are you absorbing your food properly?

Many people have difficulty with absorption of nutrients from their food due to various health reasons. If you are maintaining a good diet but are experiencing lack of energy or other subclinical heath difficulties you may not be absorbing your food properly. ( A good supplementation, detoxification and /or colon cleansing program is recommended.)

Are you participating in preventative health by keeping your immune system strong and alert?

Exersize, vitamins, and other nutrients keep your body functioning at an optimal level. Do you desire good health and fitness?
