Menopause syndrome may be natural, premature or artificial. Aging of the ovaries results in declining output of normal hormones and as the ovaries become atrophic the follicular cells undergo atresia and glandular tissue is replaced by connective tissue. This occurs between the ages of 40 and 50 usually, but premature menopause may occur earlier due to early attrition of available follicles or artificial menopause may occur due to surgical castration or from irradiation of one kind of another. Normally the adrenal glands take over hormonal functions when menstruation ceases. Women whose adrenals are exhausted have a much more difficult time during menopause. Any menopause is a normal physiological function, the object of therapy is to support all endocrine functions, improve general health and strength, and provide a mental environment conductive to reduction of stress and strain. However, in so many cases where there are greater or less physical and mental symptoms, great attention must be paid to adequate natural nutrition and to use of intense natural supplementation of concentrated nutrients. |
