Cold and Flu Season Recommendations
from Pacific Health Sciences.
PATHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

This Winter has seen allot of colds and flus. It seems each year that many of them become hardier strains, able to withstand many conventional treatments. The symptoms can range from a sore throat and cough to aching all over.

TREATMENT

The digestive system is our first line of defense against the oral ingestion of any pathogens.

A good digestive enzyme.
Get one that contains Betaine HCl if you are going to eat allot of protein.

Immune boosting supplements can keep your system strong against ingested or airborne pathogens.
Products that will keep your immune system strong
even under the stress of cold and flu season.

Here are some suggestions.
Instant Immune (A complex immune formula containing major immune boosters)
Oregano Oil 3 drops once a day.
Glandular Thymus Products (the thymus gland produces immune system cellular defenders)
Other immune boosting herbal products in liquid or powdered capsules such as Reishi, Shitake, Mytake and associated extracts. These products are historically known to help strengthen the immune system and boost NKC activity (Natural Killer Cell) activity in the immune system. The Arnold Schwartzeneger of immune cells.
Echinacea and vitamin C are helpful in stimulating immune cell activity and have shown much clinical success.
Vit C 1-3 grams a day.
Echinacea - Capsules 2/dy or liquid extract 40 drops 2x/dy.

A good Vitamin B complex. The B vitamins are the body's number one source for nervous system balancing and metabolic stress relief. They are picked up and used helpfully in many of the bodies metabolic reactions.

Finally, if you have an organ or system that you know is your weak area then take along some products that will help your weak systems stay strong.

Such as:

Herbs that help the lungs if you have lung weakness. i. e. Mullein, Hops, Wild Cherry Bark, or herbal combinations for lung maintenance and clearing.
Or; Herbs that help the Liver such as Milk Thistle, Dandelion root, Artichoke leaves or combo's. Or; Herbs and supplements that help the heart such as Hawthorne Berry or CO Q10.

And of course try and find a polite way to refuse Grandma's insistence that you have another piece of pie or cake or brownies or muffins or desert. (This is a polite way of saying stay off the sweets especially if you come down with cold or flu symptoms.)

Try and get regular exercise.

Detox-- Do not detox while you are ill but rather before you get ill or after you have recovered.
Liver, intestinal, detox products are helpful, juice fasts or simply lighten up the diet, steam baths, saunas, exercise and plenty of fluids.

 All the Best,
DrB
